Psalm 27

1 The LORD is my light and my salvation— so why should I be afraid? The LORD is my fortress, protecting me from danger, so why should I tremble?2 When evil people come to devour me, when my enemies and foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.3 Though a mighty army surrounds me, my heart will not be afraid.Even if I am attacked, I will remain confident.
4 The one thing I ask of the LORD— the thing I seek most—is to live in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, delighting in the LORD's perfections and meditating in his Temple.5 For he will conceal me there when troubles come; he will hide me in his sanctuary. He will place me out of reach on a high rock.6 Then I will hold my head high above my enemies who surround me.At his sanctuary I will offer sacrifices with shouts of joy, singing and praising the LORD with music.
7 Hear me as I pray, O LORD. Be merciful and answer me!8 My heart has heard you say, "Come and talk with me." And my heart responds, "LORD, I am coming."9 Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper.Don't leave me now; don't abandon me, O God of my salvation!10 Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.
11 Teach me how to live, O LORD. Lead me along the right path, for my enemies are waiting for me.12 Do not let me fall into their hands. For they accuse me of things I've never done; with every breath they threaten me with violence.13 Yet I am confident I will see the LORD's goodness while I am here in the land of the living.
14 Wait patiently for the LORD. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the LORD.

overbooking and free tickets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so...
at the phoenix airport (connecting flight) on the way home...
about a half hour ago, an anouncment was made that our flight back to phoenix was overbooked. they were asking for volunteers to give up their boarding passes in exchange for a flight the next morning and for free round-trip tickets to anywhere in the continental US... i was getting frozen yogurt while my parents were back at the gate and the announcement was made. i got back to the gate and my parents told me about this, and i looked at them, "you haven't taken the deal yet?!?! what are you waiting for?!?"

so...
i am sitting at gate B16. the tiny plane has already departed and is on its way to long beach, without us on it. we will be leaving the airport fairly soon with three round-trip ticketws and a hotel to stay at for the night and a flight back home tomorrow morning. what a deal! my dad is especially excited since this is where he went to college, so he gets to spend a day in phoenix.

isn't it great when people mess up... others can really benefit from it!!

well, the only set back is the fact that we don't have the luggage that we checked in... however, i do have my necesities... my carry-on, which was my raquet bag. as long as i have my tennis raquets, i can survive... i don't need anything else! forget a toothbrush, i've got raquets!

ok, well, we are going to be leaving the airport soon, so i better get off.
i'll be posting my pics from michigan when i get home tomorrow.

from the dorms of calvin...NVW!

so i am sitting in the dorm room that i am staying in at calvin... both girls are gone and will be gone for the night... yup, one had to go home and the other is at a an away tennis match that she is staying overnight somewhere else for. so, i have the room to myself for tonight... definitely a good experience, eh?

calvin is amazing... i dont know where to begin except that in a year and a half i hope to be here. The campus is beautiful, the people are incredibly nice, and i feel very comfortable being here. I won't rant on too much more, and i dont have many pics to put up, but i will put the ones up i do have when i get home.

tonight is my last night here at calvin, but tomorrow we are traveling around west michigan and going to go see grand haven, holland, and saugutuk (sp?)... these are some places that friends have told me to check out... we'll be seeing lake michigan as well.

well, i am gonna go now!

tennis pics below!

well, here are the pics i have been meaning to put up the past few days... or weeks...
they aren't in any specific order, but here's a little summary of the pics:
the first pic is of a crowd watching federer practice... then there are some random pics of the place (some crazy pictures of the sky... the storm clouds were awesome)... hingis is the tennis player volleying and bagdhatis is the player serving.

i have a ton other pics that were taken with my pop's camera, but i decided to stick with just the ones i took with my camera (yup, all of these were taken with my camera... no big fancy lens for these :) i must say, though, that fancy lens is mighty nice to take pics with :)

enjoy!

new idea?

howdy all

i think i am deciding to change my blog content a bit. i was just looking back at my trip to japan and all the pictures i was taking. i realized that i really miss taking a bunch of pictures, especially of things that don't often get attention for cameras. i am sure there are a bunch of things around here that would be interesting to see. so, i think i might take a break from the boring "today i did this" and move towards more of a picture blog. there have already been a few things that i wish i had my camera for. for instance, i was driving to house church one morning, and i came to a stop sign. i looked to my left, and there it was... a rooster (yes, the farm animal we are all familiar with) drinking out of the gutter. although it was sad, it was art begging for its picture to be taken... unfortunately i didnt have my camera.

so, i now will be carrying my camera almost everywhere i go, and i will post the ones that are interesting on here... i guess we'll have to see if i can keep coming up with some interesting ones. feedback will be welcome. actually, i would like to know if this idea is even good... i dunno, but i am going to try it....

maybe i am just acting on my regret for not having my camera for the rooster sighting... hmmm, we'll see.

anyway, i am off... to, well, no where... but i am off.

glasses and clouds

howdy all
what a day it has been, filled with some wacky weather. i can't get over how fast weather changes in california. i went to the grocery store this morning [to buy ingredients for some cookies i whipped up :) ] and the sky was black... i was afraid their would be a huge downpour by the time i got back out. well, i was completely wrong. i came back out 15 minutes later [i'm a fast shopper when i need to be] and the sky was blue. the sun was shining all around and the clouds were far, far away. that's california for you. this is a pick from before the blue skies came... right above is a big black cloud.

i can see clearly now the rain is gone... well, not necessarily because the rain is gone... more because now i have reading glasses. yup yup, i now wear reading glasses for, well, reading. i also wear em while i am on the computer [i am wearing them now :) ] trying to figure out how i look with glasses on? try no more... here's a pic
pretty snazzy, eh?

although i sit at home terribly bored and without something to do tonight, i will not be doing the same tomorrow night. i am going to a concert tomorrow night in thousand oaks...i get to go see Sanctus Real. ya, it's going to be awesome... i'll make sure to take a lot of pics like i did with the Newsboys concert.

well, i better be off... like i said, i've got a busy night doing nothing
