and so the next adventure begins!

tomorrow i am off on my next adventure which will include pure tennis and pure beach-beauty. i will be flying in a chunk of metal with wings over the pacific for the second time this year, but this time, i am stopping midway and landing on a little island known as Maui. yup yup, i am off to the land of pineapple, macadamia nuts (often chocolate covered), hukilaus, beaches, and tennis. tennis will be the majority of my activity while i am there (it's a tournament/camp). there have been a few surprises that have popped up, but i will wait until i arrive in maui to delve deeper into those surprises...

i am not 100% sure that i will have internet access where i am staying (kapalua villas) so we'll see... i sure hope so, beacause i will be taking pictures. hawai'i is what i like to call a very photogenic place... if you're camera is in focus and is functioning, you really can't go wrong when taking pictures.

well, i better catch a few z's while i can!

time to celebrate... the carpet is in!

Well, the carpet is in, and my room is pretty much done (just a few more things to be added to the walls). I forgot what it was like to have carpet in a room, and to not have boxes all over the place, and what it was like to breath without tons of dust in the air. So, yes, my room is now incredibly awesome, complete with green carpet and fun (and comfortable) seating. i am totally excited now to allow my friends into my room!

the time has come!
the carpet will be coming on wednesday, and the whole nightmare that started exactly 6 months ago will come to an end! I spent today preparing for the big day. i wish i would have taken a "before" picture, because it was insane... beyond any messy room that could be imagined. i had half my room in a ton of different boxes, and the other half of my room on top of the boxes... and i have a lot of junk, so half is a lot. i got rid of/gave away a lot of stuff. all that 'made the cut' to come back into my room fits in pretty much one box... it's mostly stuff that will be going on my walls. i'm not going to say what my plan for my room will be... i don't want to spoil the surprise for wednesday's pics!

in other news, july 23 is coming fast and i will be off to hawai'i... it's crazy how fast it's coming up!

well, i am exhausted, so i am off to bed...

wow... this post marks #200 for me since i started my site over a year ago... pretty crazy eh? too bad there is nothing special about this post...

summer has officially started!
i am taking off today to go work at camp dunamis for two weeks (i am the videographer and editor for each week-session). i will have internet access for time to time (when i can get into town) so i will post some stuff while i am there. but for now, there is not much to say...

so, ya... that's pretty much it.

schoooool's (almost) out, for, summer! schooool's out, (not quite) for, ever!

so, the only things standng between me and singing this song semi-truthfully are four very icky exams... well, three, because the bible exam will be easy. On the other hand, History, spanish, and the very-dreaded chemistry will not. I am trying to stay positve by thinking these happy thoughts: after thursday, never again will i have to deal with words like leptons, quarks, stoicheometry, polymers, and 1,2-ethyl 3,6-dioxylhexane (the last one is kind of made up, but believeme, there are things with very similar names).

these past few school years have been going by fairly quickly, especially this year (except during third period chemistry where time somehow seems to stop). thinking of the increase in speed of school years going by has brought me to remember something my grampa (my pop's pop) told me a long time ago... all of you, take note...

My bro Aldo graduated from highschool the same time i "graduated" from 6th grade. I remember seeing my bro graduate and thinking a few things: wow, he is old. i can't believe he's going to college... i wanna go to college. it's going to take forever to get to high school and then college. I expressed these very young and frustrated emotions to my grampa, and sure enough, he came up with some very clever and comforting (and quite amusing) words of wisdom. He looked at me and said: "Cookie (that's what he calls me), you know what? Your done with the first half of your education before you get to college... a whole half done! And you know what? The second half will go so much faster... (that's where i say "psshh, ya right!") Seriously. You wanna know how i know that? (of course i do!) Because, just like everything else in life, your school 'carreer' is like a roll of toilet paper... (i giggle at that bathroom refrence) Seriously, school is like a roll of toilet paper... the second half goes so much quicker than the first half!"

words to live by... life is like a roll of toilet paper. i've experienced it first hand and can attest to it... so pass it on!

there is a short disclaimer... yes, things will only go by faster now, but that is no reason for forgetting to stop and look around... go ahead, smell a few flowers, take a few second-glances at things you normaly just skim. I could go on... these are things that I write mainly as reminders to myself :)

but please don't dilly-dally... go towards a goal or something... and don't get stuck on this life...remember, there's more to come :)

it's in the blood

so, i heard a story about my gramma the other day (my mum's mum... she is called 'nonna,' which is italian for gramma... pronounced "no-nuh").
anywho, my Nonna used to love to bowl (she nearly bowled perfect games) and she used to love to play golf. i began to see the things my nonna passed on to me (well, not the perfect games, but the love to play fun things like bowling and golf). however, there was something different about the way she played golf. she would play a full 18 hole course with no more than two or three clubs... it gets better. her favorite club? the putter. she would sometimes play a full course with only, that's right, only a putter. Isn't that awesome!! that's where i get the 'weird blood' in me. i was thinking of following in her footsteps and paying tribute to my nonna's awesome legacy this summer... 18 holes, nothing but a putter... i think i'll get the same score i got the last time i played (with a full set of clubs).

with corn between my teeth...

well, i had the house to myself and nothing to do... not only was i extremely bored, but i was also extremely hungry. i decided that i wasn't going to go out to some fast food place and i wasn't going to be lazy and have a bowl of cheerios... so i hopped in my car and drove to pavillions with a few things on my mind... chicken, carrots, and corn. i had no idea how in the world i was going to cook it all, but that is what i walked out of the store with: some filet chicken breasts, corn (with the husk still on), and carrots. i have to admit, i was grinning when i got out of the store because 1. i had no idea what i was going to do, and 2. because i knew that i was going to eat whatever came out of my experiment because i was so stinking hungry...

well, a pot of boiling water and a pan filled with a little of 'this' and 'that' later, i produced this:
grilled carrots and chicken with corn on the cob. I can't quite remember all that i did, but i do know that it was delicious. about 15 minutes later, i had a satisfied stomach and my cooking-confidence shot up a few points.
now, why did i take pictures of this, and why did i tell this story? don't ask me, i'm just a little weird, and with time on my hands, i am bound to do something like this :)

gotta go to sleep... tennis tournament tomorrow!!!
