old faces in odd places

when i say old, i do not mean wrinkly, sagging, aged faces... i mean faces from the past.
first the odd places... affordable treasures (thrift store), and television.
it really is a trip when you see a face you haven't seen for 5 or 10 years, but immediately recognize them as if you saw them yesterday... it's even crazier if they recognize you first, because for sure you remember them, but there's no way that they remember you... they look exactly the same, but you have changed so much that they probably don't recognize you.
do you ever play that game? i play it all the time, especially when dealing with old class mates from elementary school... i see someone, totally remember them, but i don't go up and say hi because there is no way they remember me, and i'll just look like a freak and make them feel uncomfortable because they don't remember me... come on, i know you are ALL guilty of playing this game at least once in your life.
in fact, i've got a GREAT story for this... it was such an incredibly awkward situation, i actually crack up just thinking about it.
my junior year, maybe sophomore year, while at house church. there used to be another guy in the same grade as me that went to our house church, and one night he brought a friend along... daniel was his name. the friend was i guy i went to elementary school with, and in fact was strangely good friends with in 3rd through 5th grade... interesting friendship. anyway, the moment he walked in, it got really really really awkward. i totally played the game... i tried to think that he didn't remember me, and the entire night, we did not say a single word to eachother, in fact, i think we completely ignored eachother's existence. and i didn't even tell anyone that i knew him. ya, awkward.
wow that was a tangent.
anyway, i saw my BEST friend from 2nd and 3rd grade on tv in the track CIF masters meet!! it was so cool! i wish i could say hi to her and stuff, and she is one i wouldnt skip the game with and just go up and talk to no matter what, however the fact that she was on tv kind of prevented that from happening.
and the other was the mom of a girl i played soccer with, not as exciting a story, but it was really neat because she called my name from across the place, and it took me a moment to place who she was, but then it clicked.
what a trip.

no point to the post... may be a dull corner, but no point...
just some stories.
