magnetic frisbees

the weather was absolutely gorgeous today!!! low 70s, blue skies, sun shine all around... the type of day you just can't spend inside... which is why i love my schedule so much. 100 minutes of class (i had history of PE and then theology), and the rest of the day is mine to use as i wish!
before i get to the fun i had in the sun today, i want to say something about my hist of PE/rec/sport class. so we have been focusing on the history of PE right now (we've been going back and forth between that and sport), but it is so fascinating! i find myself smiling in class because i am just enjoying it sooo much. we've been learning about where and when PE started, and how actual physical education came in to play (the germans brought it to boston... and the swedish too). these german and swedish guys are pretty awesome. but even more awesome is the fact that the Amricans that contributed to the start of PE were women! how awesome. they were some pretty cool people.
anyway, on friday, we are going to simulate a children's sweedish gymnastics class from late 1800s. its not gymnastics like you are thinking, its just PE was kind of called gymnastics. so basically what the earliest form of PE was like. i am super excited for it... its going to be a lot of fun! then next week we are going to play townball (the earliest form of baseball), and we are going to play out on the commons, so you can probably watch us play on the webcam if you have nothing better to do. yup yup!

so what did i do with the weather??? well, i played frisbee golf with my friend angela... we agreed that it would be an absolute insult to the weather if we did not go out and play in it. after playing the nine marked holes on calvin's frisbee golf course, we started making up our own holes. that's when it got a little crazy. everything from trees and light posts to squirrels and open windows (and occasional skateboarders) became the targets. you know you are having too much fun playing frisbee golf when you find yourself crawling out of windows or accidentally hitting lights in the halls. and we must have attempted getting the squirrels at least 50 times. it wasn't until angela threw her frisbee so it skid across the cement that it caught a squirrel running away. we nearly died. the squirrel was fine, but i am almost certain that i saw it shaking its fist at us.
good stuff.

another fun thing... when i was running this morning, i saw a flock of geese heading south for the winter! so cool... not something you really get to see in california.

so that's it for now!
i'm off to do some reading...
oh, and my eye finally stopped twitching!!!!!!!

I have found a Golden Spoon in San Diego. About 20 minutes away. It's a bit of a challenge without a car but I will find a way back to it!!!
