ode to my [old] laptop

so for the past years (since 7th grade) i have been using a laptop that my dad brought home from work. this thing has been so good to me, and boy, this laptop is well traveled... it's been to japan, hawaii, michigan, mammoth... can we say memories?
however, lately the memories haven't been so good. i've dubbed the laptop "dino" (as in dinosaur) because it is definitely ancient compared to the more recent laptops (they've come a long way since 7th grade). not only is it incredibly slow, but it likes to make really weird humming and clicking noises that i would say is equivalent to a laptop hyperventalating from all the hard work and then exploding.... ya that's about right. not only that, but it has had it's fair share of homework assignments... eating them, that is. already two this semester. my laptop requires 15 minutes to get settled in before i can even touch a button after i turn it on, kind of like a senior citizen needing some recovery time after a laboring task.
so yes, he's old and lately i have been more angry than pleased with him, but i still have a fondness towrds him, and that is why i write this trinute...
because today, he has retired and been replaced!
a newer better toshiba laptop has stepped in to replace ol' dino. my dad got a hold of a special offer available to toshiba employees only (my dad is a toshiba employee) that got him a great deal on a new laptop! so today i got the package from ups, and today marks my first "for college" gift.
i've already scrubbed in and begun the surgery requiring a skilled surgeon (that's me) to perform a transplant of dino's heart to david (um, i'll explain the choice of this name in a sec) so that my files can be transfered onto the new laptop.
okay, david explanation. when i first started the computer, i had to go through a few steps for windows first, and the first step was "name your computer". i read the instructions, and it said to name the computer and then describe it. it then said, "Example: David"
i thought, oh that's a good name, i will name him david.
so i did.

okay, so this wasn't an ode, but close enough.

i'll miss you dino!

have a great fantastic weekend! i know i will!
